A race is supposedly about the one who is the fastest or slow and steady, like the turtle and the rabbit in the famous story, and there is of course the famous rat race. Races have a prescribed circuit that is lined out to follow. Very early on, I question why I have to follow this circuit? I could not find interest or motivation in this.
Living in the country-side long enough and having stepped out of races, I finding even more strange. Yet, when I connect with city dwellers, I am surprised. People without time and busyness, the essence of their existence. Apparently, since 2020 it went worse, according to my research. People feel more competitive and worried about loosing their jobs, especially when they are in leading or managerial roles. There seem to be a fear, these jobs are hard to get or replace. So, it is better to subscribe and run that race that actually does not include life, but is all about that race that they are running. Achievements and expectations from our professions and family, from our own illusions, and false duties. How much I need to earn by the age of 30, 40, 50 years young, the house(s), the car(s), the vacations and other status symbols. Before you know you are 65, and wonder how much longer to be on the race. Can I afford to quit?
In the Story of the turtle and rabbit, we consider the turtle the one who is self-sabotaging in a mode of victim, it does not really make sense to run, because the rabbit is winning anyway? The other choice of course is "I run for me, just to complete the task", but again, what is the purpose or meaning. Just for the sake of taking up a challenge? Looking at the rabbit, we see the hero. It could be, "I am going to proof I am faster, although it is so obvious I am faster and better, anyway". So, what is the purpose to go on this race for the rabbit?
And, there is the rat race, when one is caught up in a fierce competition, fear and lack of having to do this race, a duty that really has no options or choice. The rat race is also referred to a struggle of wealth and power. How can you relate to that?
There are surely other races, but what happens when we are on one race?
Are you aware?
How did you get on it?
We try to beat time. Whose time?
Whose rules?
What does the winner take?
What do the others get?
Are you on a race?
A race of finishing up your education, a new career, family, achieving what you feel or your were told to achieve. What brought you here? What are you chasing? Years, Life, Expectations? Often these races don’t really take you anywhere and leave you wondering
Are you the turtle or rabbit?
Is the rat race that is holding you tight?
What capabilities and measures are you assessing?
Who are you chasing?
Can you really win this race?
Whose race is it anyway?

I elect to focus on what i desire to learn and create instead of the dizziness of the rat race. It makes more sense to me that way and i feel that i will accomplish more in my lofe that way. Will feel more fulfilled as well, more joy and love.
